Two gunshots rang out before an injured man sought help at a townhouse in a northwest London housing complex on the weekend, a resident says.

A resident of the townhouse complex at 1481 Limberlost Rd. who didn’t want to be identified, said a bloodied man showed up at her family member’s townhouse looking for help Saturday around 4:45 a.m.

The man was taken to hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, London police said.

“I heard it happen. It sounded like thunder actually,” said another resident, who asked not to be identified for fear of retribution.

“I know guns . . . It was definitely a long gun.”

Surveillance footage viewed by The London Free Press shows several police cruisers arriving at 4:54 a.m. in the complex parking lot and officers exiting with their guns drawn.

Police haven’t made any arrests in the case – the city’s third shooting this year – and didn’t release descriptions of any suspects. Investigators spent the weekend canvassing the area and are asking anyone with information about the shooting, including surveillance footage, to contact London police at (519) 661-5670.

The 160-unit complex south of Gainsborough Road is operated by London Middlesex Community Housing (LMCH).

“We recognize that this situation concerns residents who live in our Limberlost community. We encourage tenants to reach out to any staff member if they have concerns so that we can address them appropriately,” housing authority spokesperson Matt Senechal said in a statement.

“LMCH staff are on-site, offering support and resources to tenants who may need them. The LMCH Community Safety Unit has also increased on-site patrols and continues to support London Police during their investigation.”

Cases of gunfire in London have decreased significantly this year. There were 13 incidents by this time in 2023, compared to three this year.

Most recently, a person showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound on March 29 following a multi-vehicle crash in the parking lot of an apartment building on Fiddlers Green Road and Oxford Street. No arrests have been made in the case.
