Girls basketball: New London-Spicer limits Minnewaska’s offense in Section 3AA semifinal

WILLMAR – New London-Spicer girls basketball team held the Minnewaska Lakers to 17 second half points in a 52-42 win in the Section 3AA semifinals/Section 3AA-North Championship game on Tuesday at the Big Red Gym at Willmar High School.

NLS (27-2) is the Section 3AA-North champion and advances to meet Windom (22-7) in the Section 3AA championship at 8 p.m. Friday at the R/A Facility at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. Windom is the No. 2 seed in Section 3AA-South.

Minnewaska kept it close all night, but NLS held the lead for the majority of the night to get the win.

Ava Carolson led the NLS offense with 22 points on Tuesday, followed by Dakota Rich with nine and Delaney Hanson with eight.

Sydney Dahl led the Lakers on offense with 14 points, while Alia Randt and Megan Thorfinson had nine.

Minnewaska ends the season with a 20-9 record.
