Hayes knife attacks: Man sought after four men stabbed in face

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace after four men were stabbed in the face, eye and ear in west London in recent days.

The attacks in Hayes last Wednesday and on Sunday and Monday, were unprovoked and left the victims with “significant injuries”, the Metropolitan Police said.

Two of the stabbings happened on the same street – Glencoe Road – on separate days.

Det Ch Insp Garth Hall, who is leading the investigation, said: “It is clear we need to catch the man responsible as soon as possible.”

Officers described the man they would like to speak to as black, aged about 35, muscular, with straight, dark hair.

  • In the first incident, a 42-year-old man was attacked with a knife in Glencoe Road at 09:30 BST last Wednesday, 3 July, suffering an injury to his ear
  • A 41-year-old man sustained multiple cuts around his face and neck when he was attacked on the same road near a bus stop at 10:00 BST on Sunday, 7 July
  • Later the same day, at about 22:00 BST a man was slashed in the face with a knife on Friar Road
  • In the most recent incident, a 47-year-old man suffered an injury to his eye in an attack on Yeading Lane at about 03:10 on Monday, 8 July

“We are very concerned about these attacks, which have left four men with significant injuries,” Det Ch Insp Hall said.

He added: “I understand there will be concern in the community about these incidents and so we have increased resources and patrols in the Hayes area to provide reassurance.”
