Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen took a brutal dig at London Mayor Sadiq Khan for increasing crime levels in the city. Pietersen took to X and revealed that he had to remove his expensive watch and wedding ring before visiting the city. ‘Gotta go into London today. “No watch and a flimsy piece of plastic on my wedding finger. Well done, @Sadiq Khan,” wrote Kevin Pietersen.

Pietersen had recently slammed Mayor Saqid Khan after a horrific train stabbing incident between Shortlands and Beckenham on Thursday, March 28.

“WTAF is this now in London?!?!?! London was once the most amazing city. It’s an absolute disgrace of a place.” Pietersen wrote on X.

In another tweet, he hit out at the London Mayor for blaming others for his failures. “This bloke has been in charge for years now and all of this London nonsense has been on HIS clock. Blame everyone else, @SadiqKhan – we all know what the greatest leaders DON’T do.” former England captain wrote.

“Theft, which includes pick-pocketing and shoplifting, makes up about 60 per cent of crime in the West End, according to the Heart of London Business Alliance. Officer Metropolitan Police data shows ‘theft from a person’ offenses – which includes stealing watches, handbags and mobile phones – rose by 27 per cent last year across the capital compared to the previous 12 months. There were 72,756 of those crimes reported in the year to 2023, up from 57,468 in 2022,” read a report in Daily Mail.

Kevin Pietersen played 104 Tests, 136 ODIs, and 37 T20Is for England, scoring 8181, 4440 and 1176 runs respectively. Pietersen also scored 32 centuries across formats. Pietersen also played a significant role in England’s T20 World Cup win in 2010 where he won the Player of the Tournament award after scoring 248 runs, including 47 in the final against Australia.
