Norse Atlantic to launch London-Cape Town flights this winter

Norse Atlantic Airways will launch flights between London Gatwick and Cape Town this winter with a three-times-weekly service to the South African city.

The new seasonal service will commence on 28 October with flights operating on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays. Return fares start from £499 in economy and £1,199 in its premium cabin that features seats with a 43-inch pitch and 12-inch recline. Flights will be operated using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Norse Atlantic’s new flights will compete with an existing daily service from London Heathrow to Cape Town operated by British Airways and a winter service offered by Virgin Atlantic.

“By breaking the duopoly on this route, we are not only expanding travel options for consumers but also driving down costs and putting the customer back in the pilot’s seat,” said Bjorn Tore Larsen, CEO and founder of Norse Atlantic Airways.

The new flights will depart London Gatwick at 20.00 and land in Cape Town at 09.30 the following morning, with return services departing Cape Town at 11.45 and arriving at London Gatwick at 21.35 the same day.

Norse Atlantic has also recently announced the launch of flights between London Gatwick and Las Vegas and already operates transatlantic routes from Oslo, Athens, London, Berlin, Rome and Paris after commencing operations in June 2022. However in January the carrier said it would not resume flights from Gatwick to Washington DC and Boston this summer.
