Running a marathon is tough enough without the added pressure of thousands of fans, watching your every step.

That’s exactly the challenge that plenty of stars faced this weekend, as they took part in the London Marathon 2024.

Thankfully, all the hard hours of training paid off for the stars, including comedian Rosie Jones and her pal Ivo Graham.

The two comics partook in the race together to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and Up, the adult cerebral palsy movement.

Ivo was photographed pushing Rosie during the race, while she beamed from the chair.

Last month, they posted on Instagram following another race, saying: ‘On Sunday we did a half marathon with a megaphone and it was one of the best days ever. In a month we’re doing the full London marathon with a megaphone and it’s going to be even better.’

Following this weekend’s event, Ivo took to social media with a jokey photo of Rosie pushing him in the buggy, adding: ‘Next year’.

Quoting his post, Rosie wrote: ‘This hero pushed me for 26.2 miles. I thought I’d repay the favour.’

As well as Rosie and Ivo, soap star Emma Barton took part with her EastEnders co-star Jamie Borthwick.

Best known as Honey Mitchell and Jay Brown respectively, the pair ran in character and were filmed the whole way as part of a brain tumour storyline, following the death of Lola Pearce-Brown last year.

Pictures post-race showed Emma out of breath but still, somehow, with a smile on her face after completing the major challenge.

Another person with extra weight on his back – quite literally – was Joel Dommett, who decided to throw on Danny Jones’s Piranha costume, which he wore to compete in the latest season of The Masked Singer UK.

Joel joined several other celebrities taking part in this Sunday’s race, alongside McFly musician Harry Judd, comedian Rosie Jones, actress Ruth Wilson and many more.

Before the race began, Joel, 38, wrote on Instagram alongside a layout of his costume and race bib number: ‘Here we GOOOOOO! @londonmarathon. Use my number to track me on the app. If I slow down too much someone call my wife.’

The comic ran for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, who shared a video of him racing across a bridge as the crowds light-heartedly cheered: ‘Take it off!’, referencing the famous line on The Masked Singer.

Joel opened the face portion of the costume, beaming as he ran past and encouraged the spectators to get even louder.

Harry, the drummer of McFly, revealed after 2pm that he’d already finished the race, walking along with his children while wrapped in foil to recover from his strenuous physical feat.

The musician, who ran for the Children’s Trust, said in a video on his Instagram Story: ‘Here we go, I’ve finished with my support team,’ as his son showed his dad’s medal to the camera.

‘There we go. Aw I’m so glad that’s over. It was amazing. Thanks to everyone out there supporting. Yeah. Done,’ he added, while also including a link to the donation page.

Double Olympic gold medallist James Cracknell also took part, with the former Team GB rower having taken part for two causes that are close to his heart.

On his fundraising page, he wrote: ‘I am running the London Marathon to raise money for 2 great causes. Headway Essex and the Shrub End War Memorial Fund.

‘I suffered a traumatic brain injury in a cycling accident. From when I was in intensive care and throughout my recovery Headway were there for my family and me.’

He added: ‘The Shrub End War Memorial is a monument commemorating the sacrifice soldiers of this community made defending our country.’

Russ Cook, also known as the ‘Hardest Geezer’ recently made headlines when he completed the extraordinary achievement of running the entire length of Africa.

James was very excited to meet him at the start line, having a photo with the running legend among other marathon participants.

Writing on Instagram about his excitement to be taking part in the London Marathon, Russ shared: ‘I really do love the marathon. My dad first ran one when I was a young lad and I thought he was superman. Running my first one changed my life.

‘Thousands of people gathered together for a 1v1 battle vs themselves. Each with their own stories. Often running for more than just them. United in overcoming the struggle.

‘I would highly recommend coming down to be part of it even if you aren’t running. Look at the faces of the runners on mile 20+. Look how hard they fight for the finish line.

‘The human spirit mate; magic.’
