Cheltenham Festival Banker Tips: GAILLARD DU MESNIL @ 5/4 with BetUK
Of course, the Champion Hurdle hot-hot Constitution Hill will be many people’s main Cheltenham Festival banker – Ruby Walsh included. However, the Nicky Henderson 5 year-old is no sort of price and if winning could even be the shortest-priced Champion Hurdle winner EVER.
So, with this in mind, Ruby Walsh has revealed his 2023 Cheltenham Festival banker bet. Step forward GAILLARD DU MESNIL. The 7 year-old was last seen running third to a leading Gordon Elliott Cheltenham runner – Mighty Potter – at Leopardstown.
This Willie Mullins runner is being targeted at the NH Challenge Cup Novices’ Chase (5:30pm) on the opening day.
While prior to that bronze was a tidy winner (7 1/2 lengths) over Christmas, while from his 19 career runs has only been out of the first three once (5 wins).
He’s being stepped up in trip to 3m6f here but having also run third in the Irish Grand National last year, we know he stays. Everything looks in place for a big run and Ruby seems to agree.
You can back GAILLARD DU MESNIL at Cheltenham odds of @ 5/4 for the NH Challenge Novices’ Chase with BetUK (non-runner, no bet)
