The prospect of Scottish independence is becoming more remote than ever



What did you do last Saturday? A spot of shopping? A bit of exercise? A catch-up with friends? Congratulations, you are a normal, well-adjusted person. I did none of these things because I am a saddo political anorak.

On Saturday in Edinburgh there were two political conferences and I went to both. In the morning I chaired a panel discussion at a Scottish Fabians meeting at Central Hall, in Tollcross. Then in the afternoon I attended an impressively large event in the Assembly Rooms, in George Street, called “The Break-up of Britain?”
