Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the rose 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Rio Tinto PLC (LON:), which rose 3.51% or 167.00 points to trade at 4,925.00 at the close. BHP Group PLC (LON:) added 3.02% or 67.00 points to end at 2,287.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:) was up 2.93% or 39.50 points to 1,389.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Land Securities Group PLC (LON:), which lost 2.51% or 15.40 points to trade at 599.00 in late trade. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:) declined 1.96% or 1.59 points to end at 79.47 and British Land Company PLC (LON:) shed 1.93% or 6.80 points to 345.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 876 to 849 and 518 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.07% or 1.35 to $1,945.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.85% or 0.61 to hit $72.44 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.44 to trade at $76.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 104.15.
