York Dante Meeting day 2 horse racing tips from Ed Quigley

Top Tipster and Broadcaster, Ed ‘Longshot Ted’ Quigley has been in sensational form recently, and is back with his best bets for York on Thursday…

Ted’s picks for the York Dante Meeting – Day 2, May 16:

Find the following picks for day one of the York Dante Meeting day two. Play on the races with our best expert-rated horse racing betting sites:

  • York 2.15 – Equilateral each way – bet with bet365
  • York 3.15 – Sapphire Seas – bet with CopyBet
  • York 5.20 – London City – bet with BetMGM

York 2.15 – Equilateral each way

EQUILATERAL is a bit of an enigmatic character, but is more than capable of striking in a race of this nature for the Charlie Hills and Jamie Spencer combination. The 9-year-old blows hot and cold, but has a record of three wins from three starts in Handicaps, and has a very good record in races such as these, including when winning over course and distance last August.

From just 1lb higher, he has to be an each-way player here with the yard in flying form, and the horse has a good record of going well fresh. Granted a strong pace to aim at, you can see him being played late here in typical Jamie Spencer fashion.

York 3.15 – Sapphire Seas

SAPPHIRE SEAS is a progressive sort, and looks more than capable of winning here for the red-hot outfit of William Buick and Charlie Appleby. The daughter of Frankel was in sensational form last year, winning four runs on the bounce as she worked her way through the levels, and only found her winning run coming to an end when touched off in a Group 2 at Meydan.

This thoroughly unexposed sort can take her form to new levels. 10f on the Knavesmire must be spot on for her, and with the yard still smiling from recent classic success, it would be far from a surprise if she were to land the odds here for the Godolphin outfit.

York 5.20 – London City

LONDON CITY looks to have a golden opportunity to follow up his recent success at Dundalk, as he steps into Handicap company for the first time. It was a proper galloping effort as he powered away inside the hard yards last time out on his first start at an extended 10f. Delving into the Handicap ranks off 93 can see him take a further step forwards here, where this extra emphasis on stamina can only play into his hands.

The Aidan O’Brien team are just starting to click into top gear, and with Ryan Moore on board, he can get the job done here. With victory, It wouldn’t shock me if he then put his hat in the ring for pattern events, which would have to come onto the radar at the likes of Royal Ascot. He’s my strongest fancy of the day.

Don’t forget Ed will be back tomorrow with his best bets at York…
