Hackney: About 100 firefighters tackle flat fire

About 100 firefighters were called to a fire at a four-storey block of flats in east London on Wednesday.

Fifteen fire engines were called to Dalston Lane in Hackney at 17:21 BST, London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.

Part of a four-storey block of flats, including the roof, was alight.

One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service.

There have been no further reports of any injuries, the LFB said.

“A number of affected residents have been relocated to a nearby church and the brigade is liaising with the local authority to support these residents,” it added.

The fire has been brought under control and crews will remain at the scene throughout the evening to fully extinguish the fire and dampen down.

LFB said it received more than 30 calls about the fire and crews from Homerton, Stoke Newington, Bethnal Green, Walthamstow and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, the brigade added.
