The 24-strong London Swimming Disability Squad is benefiting from squad sponsorship and individual training grants thanks to the GLL Sport Foundation (GSF).

From pool time for monthly training sessions through to athlete training memberships, the sponsorship deal will see the Paralympic hopefuls allowed free access to all sports facilities at Greenwich Leisure-operated leisure centres across London.

The squad includes international and top ten nationally ranked swimmers.

Coach Michelle Weltman said: “Having free access to GLL’s training facilities and Paralympic sized swimming pools on our doorstep is key to the squad’s training strategy. I hope that this support will help our swimmers achieve their potential as we work towards our goal of competing at the highest possible level in London in 2012.”

Peter Bundey, Chair GLL Sport Foundation added: “Helping talented athletes achieve their sporting potential is a key output for the Foundation and we’re delighted to support the London Swimming Disability Squad.

“They are all dedicated swimmers and tremendous role models, showing how hard work and determination can lead to personal achievement – an true inspiration to other young people in the community.”
